In total, CLIA covers 200,000+ laboratories across the USA. The labs tracked can be segmented by the following categories:
4 Types of Labs Tracked
Application type=2• Certificate of Waiver can only perform tests categorized as waived.
Application type=4• Certificate for Provider Performed Microscopy Procedures (PPMP) can only perform tests categorized as PPMP, or tests categorized as PPMP and waived tests.
Application type=1• Certificate of Compliance can perform tests categorized as waived, PPMP and moderate and/or high complexity tests provided the applicable CLIA quality standards are met.
Application type=3• Certificate of Accreditation can perform tests categorized as waived, PPMP and moderate and/or high complexity tests provided the laboratory is currently accredited by an approved accreditation organization.
