Founded in 1969, the Handweavers Guild of America (HGA) is an international member organization dedicated to serving active weavers, spinners, dyers, basket makers, fiber artists and educators. HGA encourages excellence, inspires creativity, and strives to preserve fiber traditions through education. HGA members are primarily affluent, educated women and include individuals, weaving arts guilds, educational institutions, teachers, suppliers, and libraries.
Member benefits of HGA include a quarterly subscription to Shuttle Spindle & Dyepot, a biennial meeting of fiber artists from around the world, certification programs, learning exchanges, sample kits and annual awards. HGA sponsored activities help the public develop an awareness and appreciation of the fiber arts.
