Founded in 1909, the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) is the nation’s largest and most broad-based journalism organization, dedicated to encouraging the free practice of journalism and stimulating high standards of ethical behavior. SPJ promotes the free flow of information vital to a well-informed citizenry; works to inspire and educate the next generation of journalists; and protects First Amendment guarantees of freedom of speech and press.
SPJ members pay $70 in annual dues and are primarily journalists, journalism educators, and reporters actively involved in the newspaper, television and radio industries. Selectable by home or business address for $10/M extra, these influential members receive a number of benefits from SPJ including: a subscription to Quill Magazine, continuing professional education, career services and support and journalism advocacy.
