The Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate was founded by Saint Eugene de Mazenod whose goal was to help the poor. By the time of his death, he grew his congregation to 415 priests in 7 countries. Pope Pius XI called the Missionary Oblates "specialists of the most difficult missions of the Church." Today, they are helping poor and abandoned people in the United States and 70 countries around the world.
The Missionary Oblates care for the spiritual needs of people at shrines and retreat houses while caring for their material needs by building shelters and medical clinics, and serving at hospitals, soup kitchens and other social service programs. They work with the community to make it sustainable and then move onto the next mission that needs their help.
