Founded in 1876, the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) is America's oldest nonprofit conservation and recreation organization. The Appalachian Mountain Club (www.outdoors.org) works to protect the Northeast’s woodlands, mountains, and waterways to ensure access, clean air and water for future generations. Members are dedicated to the protection, enjoyment, and wise use of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic's mountains and waterways as well as the maintenance of over 1,800 miles of trails. Membership includes a subscription to the award-winning magazine, AMC Outdoors, which reports on club activities, conservation efforts, outdoor gear, and recreational destinations. Annual membership fees are $50 for individuals and $75 for families.

Members also take advantage of AMC workshops, attending educational programs such as Outdoor Skills, Teen & Youth Programs, First Aid, Leadership Training, Wilderness Training, and Map & Compass Navigation.

 

Active and engaged, they volunteer to maintain trails, lead hikes, assist with research, promote conservation issues, and participate in coastal cleanups.

 

A philanthropic audience they are responsive to a variety of non-profit appeals that include animal welfare, humanitarian, health, cultural and environmental.  With an above average income they are in the market for offers such as publishing, outdoor gear and apparel, travel and general merchandise.
