DESCRIPTION

Interior Designers and Consultants Resource targets those who plan the interior areas of both residential and commercial spaces.

Interior design is the art and science of understanding people’s behavior to create functional spaces within a building.  Interior designers apply creative and technical solutions within a structure that are functional, attractive and beneficial to the occupants’ quality of life and culture. Designs respond to and coordinate with the building shell and acknowledge the physical location and social context of the project.  An interior designer consultant advises clients on topics related to the design of interior space. They design plans personalized to their client’s tastes that also serve a functional purpose.

Interior designers do much more than pick complementary paint colors and choose matching furniture — although those tasks are important parts of the job. They're trained in drafting, lighting and computer aided design (CAD), and are experts in room-specific design and residential space planning. Interior designers use these skills to plan and design safe, highly functional and beautiful interior spaces, from kitchens and bathrooms to family rooms and bedrooms. They determine space requirements, work within building codes and inspection regulations, and meet accessibility standards. An interior designer's day-to-day job includes creative and technical tasks, both of which often require great communication skills.

These professionals buy a variety of products from furniture to flooring such as carpets, tile, wood.  They buy artwork, home accessories, fabrics, linens, paint and much more.  They are always looking for products and services to help them in their day to day activities and will respond well to offers from manufacturers, furniture markets, continuing education, magazines and any offer that keeps them in front of the latest trends.
