Founded in 1924 Commonweal is the oldest independent lay Catholic journal of opinion in the United States. Commonweal is liberal in temperament, opinionated and engaged, but tolerant in tone. Commonweal has staked a claim for Catholic principles and perspectives in American life, and for laypeople’s voices within the Church. Its roster of prominent writers and thought-leaders has attracted an educated, knowledgeable, faithful audience of subscribers who also donate significant sums to support the work of the Commonweal Foundation and the magazine.
Published 20 times annually with a supporting website, Commonweal informs, educates, explains and reviews matters of faith and conscience for its subscribers. Most of the subscribers are multi-year subscribers, and most are also donors. Updated daily, the file is a specialist list for discerning offers in the publishing, fundraising, catalog, media and travel markets.
