These contractors are also engaged in specialized construction activities such as plumbing, painting, and electrical work.

Construction contractors are responsible for the overall coordination of a project. They follow project-specific guidelines and are often on-site to get a better assess understanding of the project. Their resonsibilities include keeping track of home office overhead, work materials and equipment as well as the cost of labor to provide the owner with a price for the project. They hire specialized subcontractors if necessary. Contractors apply for building permits, secure the property, provide temporary utilities for one-site workers, manage personnel, oversee land surveying, dispose or recycle construction waste, maintain accurate records and monitor worker schedules and cash flow.
