One of our most affluent opt-in files, individuals who are active international cruise enthusiasts tend to be a part of the millionaire’s club – nearly 60% in net worth, and over 25% in annual income and generally comprise mostly white collar professional male purchasers with stay at home wives. Percentage of individuals who travel on international cruises with children is also significant as many of our professional male cruise purchasers tend to receive the opt-in message through their wives or girlfriends – more than half of whom they have one or more children with. This file, therefore, is prime for targeting both the young and wealthy – either through inheritance or individual monetary success – and those individuals who are older, retired and have a relatively significant expendable income. Of individuals who travel with children internationally on cruises, most have at least two children traveling with them. Those with only a single child are less abundant on the file (though still in the lower millions), but tend to take more frequent international cruises than larger families with higher incomes who, based on our opt-in travel related files, take more varied trips by location and child-specific interest.
Individuals on this file who are married or dating and do NOT have children are the most frequent travelers of international cruises, with most tending to vacation at least twice a year on an international maritime trip. Individuals traveling to Europe – namely on Mediterranean cruises are the most common across the wealthiest, married and non-married opt-in international cruise enthusiasts. Those with children are more likely to take international cruises with varied destinations – the Caribbean being the most popular, with South American and more tropical destinations being favored due to warmer climates and more child friendly excursions like snorkeling and wildlife encounters (swimming with dolphins, etc…) among the plethora of activities available to tropical international cruise patrons. Of our nearly 12MM opt-in recipients of international cruise lines, those who are married tend to see the female head of household receive the offer while the generally male provider tends to provide the funds for purchase. DigDev’s work with numerous international cruise lines, travel and booking agencies have shown that once an individual takes one international cruise, they are most likely to purchase again through an opt-in offer. First time international cruise travelers are also significantly more likely to inquire about a specific international cruise opportunity due to the receipt of an opted-in solicitation rather than simply inquiring with no prior contact. Spend per passenger on international cruises is nearly 100% over $1,000 per person, and in the case of European/Mediterranean Cruises in particular, will often range anywhere from $3,500 to $6,000.
