Sales Staff duties and responsibilities vary depending upon the nature of the business. A salesperson should have excellent customer service skills, and knowledge about the products they sell so they may communicate with the customers. A salesperson greets customers to help the customers in identifying their requirements, to promote products, to answer the customers' questions regarding the products, to negotiate the price on the spot, to arrange the merchandise properly, and to supervise the ordering of the supplies. A salesperson is often required to carry out financial transactions.

 

 

Members of a sales staff are hired based on skills they bring to the sales team. Businesses need to know whether the team will need a staff with more presentation skills, writing skills or Internet marketing skills and whether or not the sales staff needs experience marketing to a general consumer or to top executives at a wealthy company. They will also need to be able to project the image that the business wants its company to have.
