Neonatal nurses are registered nurses (RN), Advanced Registered nurses (ARN) and licensed practical nurses (LPN) who care for newborn infants during the first month of their life. They are responsible for the general care of babies including regular diaper changes, feedings, nurturing, health monitoring, education of parents, and administration of medications. If the baby is born premature, neonatal nurses may also insert and remove IVs, draw blood for testing, and perform diagnostics.
