Founded in 1974, the Association of Black Cardiologists, Inc., (ABC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to lowering the high rate of cardiovascular disease in minority populations and committed to advocacy and diversity.
ABC members are cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, internists, nephrologists, endocrinologists and nurses. The diversity of the ABC membership continues to expand and more disciplines and specialties are being tracked.
The ABC membership list is selectable by membership type:
- Cardiologists in Training (CIT) – Physicians in post-graduate training in a vascular specialty.
- Clinical Care Associates – Persons who have a general interest in the goals of the ABC such as registered nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nutritionists, exercise scientists, technologists, technicians, and research coordinators.
- Community Health Advocates – Includes non-medical and community health related individuals or organizations that share an interest in promoting and participating community programs offered through the ABC.
- Full Membership - Physicians and scientists who have earned an advance degree (MD, DO, PhD, PharmD or equivalent).
- Medical Students, Residents, Interns, and Fellows (non CV) – Includes non-degreed medical students interested in pursuing advanced studies in cardiology.
