The AJPA was founded in 1944 as a voluntary non-profit professional association for the English-Language Jewish Press in North America.
Today, membership consists of newspapers, magazines, individual journalists and affiliated organizations throughout the United States and Canada.
The stated mission of the AJPA is to enhance the status of American Jewish journalism and to provide a forum for the exchange of idea and cooperative activities among the American Jewish Press.
The combined readership of AJPA member publications is in excess of 2,500,000 people.
