A nonprofit membership organization founded in 1980, AFT has a mission to protect farmland, promote sound farming practices, and keep farmers on the land. Members' concerns include the loss of farmland to development, the loss of family farms, soil erosion, water quality, wildlife habitat, traffic congestion, urban sprawl, food safety and maintaining an abundant food supply. Members receive a one-year subscription to a quarterly newsletter, "American Farmland."
