Founded in 1863, the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) is the oldest and largest association representing veterinarians with greater than 82,500 members. A majority of AVMA members work at, manage or own veterinary clinics and animal hospitals and serve as the authority to recommend, specify and actively purchase the medications, supplies and equipment needed for their practice and clients.
AVMA members are affluent and highly active in their profession. Members pay $300 in annual dues and enjoy a wide range of member benefits including information resources, continuing education, publications, and more. Other benefits of AVMA include state and federal advocacy, policy development for the profession, and networking opportunities.
AVMA’s membership has numerous selections including species, medical discipline, employment setting or function, veterinary school, board certification, graduation date, age and gender (see AVMA selections for more details).
