DESCRIPTION

  About 26% of today’s electorate is considered to be extreme left or extreme right leaning to little debate as to where these Americans stand on political issues. It is, however, the remaining 73% that politicians, campaigns, fundraising organizations and social causes strive to figure out so they know which portion of the electorate to target for different issues,  to raise awareness and to derive the most likely dollars that will support candidates and causes on the local, state, national and sometimes global level.

 

  The American Electorate database begins with a sophisticated market research study from age-eligible voters in the U.S. and classifies them into 10 distinct profiles beginning with voters who are known to be registered as Republican, Democrat and Independent, as well as those who are unregistered voters, but meet the criteria of eligibility. The data is then modeled against a proprietary and data-rich consumer database where it is scored and tested and can be broken down into the following classifications that represent the key attributes of that electorate group.

REGISTERED VOTERS

 

Uber Conservatives- This group is very much right leaning, sometimes positioned extremely to the right when it comes to social and moral issues. Surprisingly, we have found this group skews more female. These voters are college-educated and many are retired. They are actively engaged and community-minded individuals who hold strong conservative attitudes on financial, international, and especially, social issues.

Uninvolved Conservatives - These Republicans are not really engaged in politics or social issues. Some interest may be sparked around economic or international issues as they tend to possess right-leaning views.

Subtle Republicans- Often overlooked as Republicans because of their tendency to be indecisive on issues such as religion, healthcare, and the environment, this group of primarily male, well-educated voters have a higher HHI than any other group and consider themselves to be conservative.

 

Mega DemocratsThis group is defined as very left leaning and sometimes positioned as those who would be considered extreme left in everything from social, economic, foreign and domestic issues. They are evenly composed of both men and women, college educated, with a high percentage of both Caucasions and African Americans considered to be in this category.

Sometimes Forgotten DemocratsThese Democrats are often not engaged in politics but hold moderate to sometimes very liberal attitudes on most social and current event issues. They are more likely to be Hispanic with a good percentage of Caucasions and African Americans also included. They are equally likely to be male or female, not married and have some college education.

Conservative Democrats- A well-informed group of voters who tend to be liberal on matters of immigration and the environment, but hold to conservative values when the subject shifts to religion with most being pro-life. This is an eclectic group that skews more female and comprised of Caucasians, African Americans and Hispanics.

 

Green Sway RightThese voters are keenly aware of environmental issues and active participants in recycling;  They sway to the right as most hold traditional views in matters of religion, abortion, social programs, including healthcare; Primarily Caucasian; 50/50 male/female; advanced degree holders.

On The Fence Sway LeftThis group is not strongly political, but tends to lean left especially on an issue such as abortion; they can go either way when it comes to the economy, healthcare, education, or foreign policy. They are mainly Caucasian, male and college educated.

 

UNREGISTERD VOTERS

 

Detached and Unregistered - This segment appears to have no interest in politics and no expressed concerns toward healthcare, the environment, or social security. They seem to lean left on abortion and legalization of marijuana. They come from diverse ethnic backgrounds with the majority being Hispanic. They have less than a high school education with a sizeable number of them students. They represent approximately 69% of all unregistered voters.

Plugged In, but UnregisteredThese unregistered voters seem to be more engaged in the issues and have attitudes leaning more toward conservative. They have very strong opinions and are community-minded with an eye toward the environment. This group represents 31% of all unregistered voters and skews more toward females with some college. They are conservative leaning in their beliefs toward abortion and marijuana legalization.
