Founded in 1978, the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization(formerly the National Hospice Organization) is the oldest and largest non-profit membership organization devoted exclusively to hospice. NHPCO is committed to being the nation’s leader in improving end-of-life care and in expanding access to hospice care - thereby profoundly enhancing the quality of life for people dying in America. As a public benefit, NHPCO also is dedicated to advancing the philosophy and practice of hospice care to meet the unique needs of each person and his or her family at the end-of-life.
NHPCO members are selectable by Providers (hospices, nursing homes, freestanding inpatient facilities, home care agencies and programs established for in-home patient care) and Professionals (nurses, doctors, social workers, spiritual caregivers, etc.)
