Founded in 1926, NAEYC is the leading membership association for those working with and on behalf of children from birth through age 8. Members include teachers, administrators, early childhood program directors, college faculty, consultants, and parents who are committed to bringing high quality early childhood care and education to all young children.
NAEYC achieves their goals by providing professional development opportunities for those working with young children; convening individuals and groups with diverse perspectives to generate new knowledge and understanding of issues affecting the development of young children; setting and publicizing standards of excellence in early childhood education; building public understanding and support for activities that promote learning of all young children; advocating for public policies; and fostering the development of a network of high-performing , inclusive organizations that share the goal of promoting excellence in early childhood education.
NAEYC publishes award-winning professional journals and an extensive line of books, videos, brochures and posters. Young Children is a professional journal full of relevant, research-based articles on current topics in the early childhood field, and Teaching Young Children is a magazine that offers practical ideas for preschool educators that they can immediately use in their classrooms.
