The American Counseling Association (ACA) is a not-for-profit, professional and educational organization that is dedicated to the growth and enhancement of the counseling profession. Founded in 1952, ACA is the world’s largest association exclusively representing professional counselors in various practice settings, including private practice, schools, corporations, rehab programs or agencies, community agencies and others. By providing leadership training, publications, continuing education opportunities, and advocacy services to more than 40,000 members, ACA helps counseling professionals develop their skills and expand their knowledge base. Members are Professional Counselors, Counselor Educators, Administrators, Students, and other various professionals.
ACA members buy and recommend products and services every day, including medications, self-help books and audiotapes, CE credit opportunities, toys and games, art therapy products and tools, stress management products and seminars, IQ and other testing instruments, computer hardware and software, general office/business supplies, journal and magazine subscriptions, home study programs, memberships, conferences/seminars/training programs, play-therapy products and much more.
** Counselor licensure is now law in all 50 states. To maintain licensure, most states require 20 or more CE credits of professional development each year. This is a prime audience for any continuing education products.
