GUIDE DOG FOUNDATION FOR THE BLIND Mailing List

Since 1946, the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind, Inc. has provided guide dogs free of charge to blind people who seek enhanced mobility and independence.  They have successfully trained hearing-impaired blind people as well as many physically challenged people.  In 2009, the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind became the first assistance dog school in the U.S. to be certified by both the International Guide Dog Federation and Assistance Dogs International. 

The foundation is supported entirely by donations by generous individuals, corporations and foundations.  They receive no government funding.  In addition to providing guide dogs, the foundation offers extensive public education vehicles to broaden society’s understanding of vision, visual impairment, blindness and disability rights.
