DESCRIPTION

Healthcare Dimensions enables you to reach medical and administrative professionals in hospitals, office based physician locations, dental offices, and nursing homes. Health care providers are individuals or institutions that provides preventative, curative, promotional, or rehabilitative health services to individuals, families, or communities.  Health care institutions provide patient treatment by specialized staff and equipment, and often, but not always providing for longer-term patient stays. Medical facility staff diagnose, treat, or provide therapy on an outpatient basis, while others stay and become inpatients.

Medical facilities vary widely in the services they offer. They may have acute services such as specialist trauma centre, burn unit, surgery, or urgent care. These may then be backed up by more specialist units such as cardiology or coronary care unit, intensive care unit, neurology, cancer center, and obstetrics and gynecology. Some institutions have outpatient department and some will have chronic treatment units such as behavioral health services, dentistry, dermatology, psychiatric ward, rehabilitation services, and physical therapy.

Common support units within the facility include a pharmacy, pathology, and radiology, and on the non-medical side, there are often medical records departments, release of information departments, facilities management, maintenance, dining services, and security departments.

The institutions daily activities vary greatly based on bed size, number of patients they care for and whether the institution is a long term acute care, physical rehabilitation, psychiatric, children’s, or general medical/surgical hospital. Health workers rely on new technology enhancements, continuing education programs, learning new managerial skills and techniques, attending trade shows, and reading medical and business journals to stay current in their field.
